Racers Ready!?!?

“Any race, in retrospect, can be critiqued, sworn at and sworn off. This happens in particular when the chafe is still raw, the muscles still whimper for relief, and the duffel bag that you brought to carry home all the shwag, trophies and ribbons is as empty as Ventura Avenue on Yom Kippur.

But occasionally a race comes along that, as a whole, transcends the mere components that make it up, and at its worst still somehow becomes one of the most quality weekends any racer will experience. The Length of the Lake is this type of race.” ~ Brandon Nelson after the 100 KM Length of the Lake 2007

The famous finish line peach!

The 100-KM Length of the Lake on Lake Okanagan, hosted by Penticton Racing, is one of our favorites. While we stay in local waters racing the Lake Samish Salmon Roe on Saturday, a small posse of local paddlers will be heading north to represent BHam.

Read Brandon’s full Length of the Lake 2007 story HERE.

Or, read who beat who, Heather or Brandon, in our 2006 story ‘One Minute DOES Matter’

There is more fun to be had Sunday; while we head to Seattle for the Round the Rock Stand-Up Paddle Board Race, 1400 or so runners will be hoofin’ it 26.2 gorgeous miles in the Bellingham Bay Marathon .

And, if none of those float your boat, check out the West Coast Sea Kayak Symposium!

Good Luck to all…. it is a big race weekend!!!

Kiss the peach…
