Ski to Sea in USA Today!

When we talk racing, the Ski to Sea has a special place in the conversation, in our hearts, and on our race calendar for the year.

On one hand, it’s just a 5.5 mile blast, in time-trial fashion (we’re not even able to paddle neck-and-neck with our main competition, usually), with a TON of logistical work leading up to it, and a disproportionate level of exhaustion the day after.

Yet it’s the ONE race above all others that Brandon and I want to peak for every year.

I think it’s that Ski to Sea is so, SO much bigger than the sum of its parts. It’s a race of such community, history, camaraderie –  all of those times 1000. Plus the geographical span of the race course, the range of disciplines, the parties before, during, and after the race, the numbers and energy of the crowds.

And it’s clearly not just us, and not just locals. This morning we woke to find a flattering article in the USA Today newspaper. Check it out, and if you’re not racing, find a spot or pick a few different ones to be at when racers go by on Sunday. It’ll be a highlight of your year, guaranteed.
